Holly Nicholson-Kluth became the first female patrol officer in the Douglas County Sheriff's Department 25 years ago.  On 7/24/14, she became the first female undersheriff.  Breaking the barriers!

I am excited to let you know that we are in the beginning stages of planning a regional training for the IAWP.  We are looking at next spring, in the Denver metro area.  If you are interested in presenting any type of class, please email me directly at kimcovert95029@msn.com.  We should have more information soon, and we look forward to hosting some terrific training!

Welcome to the region 8 blog

Hello region 8 members,


This is my first attempt at blogging on behalf of IAWP.  I will be posting anything that is relevant to our region, so please, send me any updates that you want posted to kimcovert95029@msn.com.  Jennifer Rowe, the other region 8 coordinator, will also be contributing to the blog, but it will be my job to post anything relevant. 


Please make a commitment to speak to your friends about coming IAWP members, and also about coming to the upcoming 2014 training conference in Winnipeg, Canada.  The 2014 committee is organizing an excellent training conference, and are truly excited to be hosting the yearly training conference. I know many of you could not attend South Africa last year, because of the distance involved, so we really want to support this North American conference.  Winnipeg is a fairly short flight, only 2 hours and 15 minutes from Denver, and there are direct flights from many airports. The hotel is $169 a night, and the conference rate is still at the early bird stages.  Please plan to attend!
